The plan, first created in 2005, currently has a draft <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/wildlife.utah.gov\/learn-more\/wap2015.html\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2015 update<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> available for public viewing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A listing of <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/wildlife.utah.gov\/wap\/species_by_county.zip\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">wildlife species by county<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including animals on the Endangered Species Act.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The habitat data can be used to identify the parts of the county that are important to a particular wildlife species.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wildawareutah.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wild Aware Utah<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a program to educate Utah residents about wildlife and safety, including what to do in a wildlife emergency.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><!-- Best Management Practices --><br \/>\n<div class=\"omsc-toggle\"><div class=\"omsc-toggle-title\">Best Management Practices<\/div><div class=\"omsc-toggle-inner\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Best management practices (BMPs) for wildlife focus on principles and actions that allow humans and wildlife to coexist and on creating or maintaining healthy wildlife populations and habitat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/wildlife.utah.gov\/learn-more\/wap2015.html\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wildlife Action Plan<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> considers key habitats and provides management strategies to improve the habitat\u2019s condition (see pages 73<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">123 of the plan). Also, the plan considers threats and provides actions to reduce the threats (see pages 124<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">216 of the plan).<a href=\"#ref\">[2]<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/wildutahproject.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wild Utah Project<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> created BMPs for <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/wildutahproject.org\/files\/images\/ORV_BMP_2008.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Off Road Vehicles use<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/wildutahproject.org\/files\/images\/BMP%20for%20Renewable%20Energy-2012-WUP_1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Renewable Energy Development<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that protects wildlife.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.conservationhabitat.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conservation Habitat Management Portal<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> provides <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.conservationhabitat.org\/library\/Sage-Grouse\/Utah\/bmps\/15\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BMPs<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for wildlife habitat management, specifically for sage grouse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Grand Canyon Trust created <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.grandcanyontrust.org\/sites\/default\/files\/beaverGuide_2013.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BMPs for living and working with beavers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><!-- Economic Considerations --><br \/>\n<div class=\"omsc-toggle\"><div class=\"omsc-toggle-title\">Economic Considerations<\/div><div class=\"omsc-toggle-inner\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A national <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/prod\/2012pubs\/fhw11-nat.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">survey<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> conducted of the year 2011 by the US Fish &amp; Wildlife Service found that Utah residents and non-residents spent over $1.5 billion dollars that year in Utah for wildlife associated recreation activities.<a href=\"#ref\">[3]<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<span id=\"tablepress-52-description\" class=\"tablepress-table-description Considerations --><br \/>\n<div class=\"omsc-toggle\"><div class=\"omsc-toggle-title\">Impact Considerations<\/div><div class=\"omsc-toggle-inner\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The following considerations are summarized from information prepared by UDWR<a href=\"#ref\">[1]<\/a> for county resource management planning, available at <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/countyrmp.org\/coordinationmeetingvideos\/utahdiv_ofwildliferesourcesplanningsupporttoaogs.zip\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">countyrmp.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Energy development and transmission may cause impacts to valued wildlife species; development-related impacts need to be mitigated to promote a balance among competing uses. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is reasonable to assume that air pollution affects other higher order animals in the same ways that it affects humans, although effects on wildlife are not well documented. \u00a0The effects of dust and other particulate forms of air pollution on animal ecology are becoming a more widely recognized subject of interest.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Water management needs to be carefully considered, so that we can meet municipal and industrial needs, while preserving traditional agricultural uses, and ensuring aquatic habitat to support wildlife.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thriving populations of big game animals will, at times, cause some level of damage to farming and ranching operations, by competing with domestic livestock for available forage, or by damaging crops, fences, or irrigation equipment. \u00a0A number of methods can be applied to mitigate the damage, including various forms of wildlife harvest and removal, issuance of landowner permits, development of a conservation lease which involves remuneration or other forms of compensation for depredation, and, finally, direct monetary compensation for agricultural damages.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Utah\u2019s<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/wri.utah.gov\/wri\/\" target=\"_blank\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Watershed Restoration Initiative<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (WRI) provides a balancing influence that promotes wildlife values and supports agricultural needs. \u00a0To participate effectively, counties need their staff to attend meetings of the WRI regional teams, expressing their views and advocating for the kinds of watershed restoration efforts they feel are most important.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Management plans provide guidance and direction for a number of species in Utah. \u00a0These plans are taken through a public process to gather input from interested constituents and then presented to the Wildlife Board for approval. \u00a0Species covered by statewide plans include<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/wildlife.utah.gov\/uplandgame\/turkey\/turkey_management_plan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">wild turkey<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/wildlife.utah.gov\/uplandgame\/pdf\/03_chukar_plan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">chukar<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/wildlife.utah.gov\/uplandgame\/sage-grouse\/pdf\/greater_sage_grouse_plan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">greater sage-grouse<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><a
