Water Committee

HOME | ABOUT WFRC | CONTACT US | SITE MAP

Purpose:   The Committee purpose is to provide the local elected officials who serve as members of the Regional Council with a mechanism for jointly reviewing water supply issues, and, if necessary, to respond to a crisis.  It includes members representing entities serving all five counties of the WFRC.  The Committee is chaired by County Councilmember Dan Hancock of Morgan County.  The Committee meets at least once a year, usually in May.

Goals:   The goals of the Committee are to: (1) educate members regarding water supply issues (such as steps being taken to meet short term drought conditions, flooding, etc., implementation of fluoridation when required, etc.);   (2) be cognizant of plans for expanding infrastructure and other steps being taken by water supply agencies to meet anticipated long term needs; and (3) encourage coordination of planning between water supply agencies and general purpose local governments.
